UK Life Part 8: Baby is coming #39weeks

Assalamualaikum

Helloooo

I would like to share how I'm giving birth at 25th February 2017.
When I was 39 weeks of pregnancy, I was a bit worried.
Because there was no sign that I'm gonna deliver the baby at 39 weeks of pregnant.
My elder sister told me that if I'm giving birth at 40 weeks, there might be implications and probably I will get Caesarean Section. This condition will take a longer time to recovery.
Since I'm a master student, I planned to take a normal delivery so I can recovery as soon as possible. However, the student support of my university offers me to take a break for 3 months but it will take a longer time to graduate. Therefore, I decide to take a break about 2 weeks. #stronggalz hahaha

On 20th to 24th February I had an extra exercise to stimulate delivery, I did yoga almost every day (I started did yoga two times a week during the second trimester of pregnancy). I did play exercise ball for 500 jumps a day. The exercise helps me to get a fast process of delivery.

At 10 pm, 24th February 2017, I started to feel contractions and my water birth was break. I called my sisters who are a specialized doctor in Indonesia. She said the contraction will take 10 hours. But I felt my contractions have short interlude only 3-4 minutes. I initiated to call the hospital, and the midwife assessed me by phone. (In UK, before delivery, midwife will assess by phone first before decide to take mom to be to the hospital). During my call, I was throw up. And the midwife recommended me to go to the hospital soon. Dan gw masih sempet make-upan biar bisa divideo-in nanti di tapi ternyata di RS ga dibolehin videoin proses lahirannya... zzzzz

before contractions
At 12 pm, I'm already at Delivery Room at Queen Medical Centre Hospital, Nottingham, United Kingdom. I was accompanied by my lovely husband and two midwives. The situation is similar to the Bridget Jones's Baby movie hahaaa.. and No one tells me that it was very PAINFUL. Ya ALLAH sakit nya luar biasa!!gw sampe minta maaf sm suami gw kl gw passed away hahaha #drama
I followed midwives leads to Push when the contractions come, but the baby still didn't come out. Even though the head of a baby already seen but she didn't come out. It was been 2 hours and I lost my energy. Then the midwives call the doctors to help me.

The situation had changed, I lost my energy and my conscious. I saw 3 doctors come to me and checked my tummy and the baby. They decided to take me to theater room (ruang operasi kl di Indonesia). They told me that the baby is too big for my body and her position is not straight that caused she didn't come out although I tried hard to push. The doctor explained the situation and procedures to me, although there was my husband beside me but they only wanted talk to me and asked me permission to do any procedures, all I remembered that the doctor says "umi, stay with me, can you hear me? We would like to do an episiotomy and if it does not work out, we will do Caesarean Section". I just could say "please help me, make it quick!" (dalam hati, bodo amaat terserah lo aja, gw mau diapain hahaaa) dan masih sempet2 nya mereka minta tanda tangan gw, gw uda lemessss bgt.  Then, they did epidural on me and I can't feel nothing. People said that an epidural is so painful, in my opinion contractions is more painful than epidural. In a couple minutes, the baby came out. ALHAMDULILLAH, at 3.27 am in the morning on 25th February 2017, my Baby Karenina Isvarani Handaru just born with height 55 cm and weight 38 kg (no wonder, the doctors said that the baby too big for my body). She looks like her dad, she got my nose! I was so blessed and full of tears, although I wasn't full of conscious.

Baby nya belom mandi, kl di UK ga boleh dimandiin sampe 7 hari

I stayed in the hospital for a day, Alhamdulillah giving birth in the UK is free because we have NHS (health insurance by UK Government) haha. Although, I had to be independent when I was there. After giving birth, I only could stay for a day and we were being self-services. (Mandi sendiri, ngambil makanan sendiri. )They got me painkillers so I can manage myself there. Unfortunately, my husband was not allowed to accompany me to the hospital, so he came back home. However, after got back home, MASHA ALLAH I felt so much in PAIN! I only got paracetamol, and it couldn't handle my pain at all. I always cry in the morning when taking a pee at the first week after giving birth. Alhamdulillah my husband and my parents always support me at that time. The first week after giving birth was the hardest week ever in my life. I will share the details and how I can manage it on my next blog.

Thank you for reading my messages

Love

co-parenting, is that hard?

Co-parenting? what is that? for you who has "a perfect family" hopefully will never experience this. I started to google it since April 2019. I never know and never want to experience this kind of parenting method. However, some sh%%$ happened and the show must go on.  When you google "co-parenting", you will face several articles about it. Basically, co-parenting means you and your ex-spouse collaborate together to raise the kid, despite your hates and egos. And how to do it? the answer is I DON'T KNOW. I just try not to fight or against your ex-spouse in front of your kid and pretend "everything is just fine". I try to explain the kid every night such as "Mommy and daddy can't get along together anymore, however, we still love you and want the best for you". I will allow my daughter if she wants to meet her dad and vice versa. On the other hand, especially in Indonesia, the "co-parenting" method is unusual. Therefore, you need...

My Baby Got Pneumonia and Tips for Moms When Your Baby Hospitalized

Hi Guys It's been a rough week for me and my husband. My baby got pneumonia and had to be hospitalized for a couple of days. On my last blog was about my baby's adaptation ability and unfortunately it still difficult for her to adapt living in Jakarta; the weather, the pollution, the virus, etc. I will flashback how she finally had to be hospitalized. 20th October 2017, Friday: She got fever 38 celsius and couldn't sleep well. 21st October 2017, Saturday: We went to RS. Puri Cinere and the doctor gave her some medicine for her flu and cough. Although it was not antibiotics. (because it was still early stage for baby to get antibiotic) 23rd October 2017, Monday: She was not even getting better, we went to RS. Puri Cinere and met another doctor. Then, the doctor gave her antibiotics. However, she was getting better.  28th October 2017, Friday: She got a fever again and couldn't sleep well. 29th October 2017, Saturday: We went to the hospi...

UK Life part 1: Preggo Student

Hi again... long time no see... I'm so busy lately, I moved to the UK to pursue my master degree. fortunately, I get to school with my husband too. Next blog will be a detail of my UK stories, so excited... Innovation Building at Jubilee Campus University Of Nottingham I moved to Nottingham when I was 20 weeks of pregnant. I decided to pursue my master degree in Finance and Investment, while I'm pregnant. I was afraid for what I have been decided, however, I have a family who always supports me. Especially my husband! Now I'm already 32 Weeks of pregnant, and preparing for my next exams in the middle of January 2017. And the UK policy gives me privilege as a pregnant lady, especially my campus. They support me by giving me special treatment. For instances: they give me extra time 15 minutes for each module exam and let me go to the toilet every 1 hour. They also provide a special room for me. So I will not bother other students. Alhamdu...
